The Tarka Rail Association (at the time the North Devon Rail Users Group) is believed to be the first group of its type in the country to have produced a study of the environmental impact of the use of various modes of transport for journeys from its area.

The report was commissioned by the group from the Envision partnership, a well known team of environmental consultants in the South West.

Comparisons were made for a range of journeys of varying length, utilising road , rail, and even air travel, and even provided an analysis  of various modes of freight  transport.

The pdf file for the environmental report is attached separately and can be accessed from the image above.
